Hosting a Tesla on Turo: Mileage, Charging Rules, and Guest Access Done Right

Teslas are strong Turo listings right now -- the used Tesla market is active, and Tesla's new FSD-centric referral program (relaunched October 29, 2026) is putting more first-time Tesla renters in the market who want to try one before buying. Hosting one well comes down to three operational things: mileage, charging, and the key handoff.
Mileage: know the overage before checkout
Turo's mileage limit system applies to EVs the same as gas cars. MooveTrax's $0 Tesla tier includes over-mileage alerts and mileage visibility with no hardware to install -- see the full mileage limits and overage math for exactly how the per-mile rate and invoicing window work.
Charging and range: this is a process, not a product feature
Turo requires an EV to be at least 80% charged at handoff. The return charge level is set by the host in the listing, not a fixed platform rule, and charging costs can be billed back according to the listing's terms. All of this -- checking current charge, preconditioning before a trip, reviewing Supercharger history -- happens in the Tesla app itself, not through MooveTrax. We don't track battery health, state of charge, or charging sessions, and don't want to overstate that we do. Practical host habits: set your return-charge rule clearly in the listing, check charge level before and after every trip in the Tesla app, and precondition the battery before cold-weather handoffs.
Guest access: the differentiated part
MooveTrax issues guests a real Tesla phone key -- a genuine Bluetooth virtual key issued through the Tesla app, not a third-party workaround. It avoids the data-erase requirement that comes with Tesla's own Guest Mode, and pairs with a remote-unlock link and a renter-locate feature so guests can find and access the car themselves.
The rest of the protection stack
Geofencing, speed alerts, towing detection, late-return alerts, remote disable, and toll tracking for billing -- all included on the $0 Tesla tier, same as the rest of the lineup. See the full Turo host security guide for how these pieces fit together.
