Stop leaving money on the table: How MooveTrax Alerts Help Turo Hosts Capture No-Show and Late-Return Fees Automatically

Stop leaving money on the table: How MooveTrax Alerts Help Turo Hosts Capture No-Show and Late-Return Fees Automatically

Turo’s rules give hosts clear windows to protect their earnings:

  • Guests have a 2-hour window after the scheduled start time before they can be reported as a no-show.
  • Guests have a 29-minute grace period after the scheduled end time. After that, hosts can report a late return and collect additional usage fees.

The problem? Most hosts only discover a no-show or late return when they manually check the app — often too late or after the reporting window has started to close.

MooveTrax solves this with automatic, real-time alerts based on actual vehicle movement (or lack of it).

1. Guest Doesn’t Arrive Within the 2-Hour Window

If the vehicle stays parked and the ignition never turns on after the trip start time, MooveTrax can notify the host.

What the host can then do:

  • Message the guest immediately (as Turo requires).
  • After the full 2-hour window, report the guest as a no-show.
  • Keep the trip earnings (or receive the applicable no-show compensation) instead of losing the booking.

Without location and ignition data, many hosts miss this window or hesitate because they’re unsure whether the guest is simply running late.

2. Guest Doesn’t Return Within the 29-Minute Grace Period

When the scheduled end time passes and the vehicle has not returned to the designated location (or the trip has not been checked out), MooveTrax sends an alert.

What the host can then do:

  • Wait the required 30 minutes.
  • Report the late return through Turo.
  • Collect the additional usage charges:
    • 30 min – 1 hr 59 min → ½ the average daily trip price
    • 2+ hours → full daily rate + $20 late-return fee
    • Possible $50 improper-return fee if the guest is unresponsive

These fees are only available if the host reports the late return within 24 hours. Real-time alerts make sure the report happens on time.

Why This Matters for Hosts

  • You stop losing money on no-shows.
  • You stop leaving late-return fees on the table.
  • You have objective data (location + ignition status) instead of guessing.
  • You can act inside Turo’s exact policy windows instead of after the fact.

MooveTrax doesn’t replace Turo’s reporting process — it gives you the early, reliable signal so you can use that process correctly and get paid what you’re entitled to.
