MooveTrax Offers a Free API for Any Company Building Vehicle Tracking Tools

MooveTrax Offers a Free API for Any Company Building Vehicle Tracking Tools

If your company builds software that touches vehicle tracking, rental logistics, or fleet operations, you can build it on top of MooveTrax's own data -- for free.

There's no paid developer tier and no sales call required. You email support@moovetrax.com with a redirect URL and a webhook URL, and you're issued a client_id and client_secret to start building against the same endpoints that power the MooveTrax app itself.

What the API covers

Four categories of access are available once you're set up:

  • OAuth integration -- a standard authorization-code flow with refresh tokens, so your application can connect to a user's MooveTrax account without ever storing their credentials directly.
  • Device commands -- lock, unlock, kill, and unkill a vehicle remotely, triggered from your own application instead of the MooveTrax app.
  • Detection API -- read device and vehicle status directly.
  • Webhooks -- real-time push events for ACC on/off, mileage updates, battery level, geolocation, and user geofence crossings, so your system doesn't have to poll for changes.

Why offer this for free

A few other companies in this space, including Bouncie, also publish a developer API. Most gate it behind a separate paid tier or an enterprise sales conversation. MooveTrax's approach is simpler: if you're building something legitimate on top of vehicle tracking and kill switch data, there's no reason that should require a procurement process. You email us, you tell us what you're building against, and you get credentials.

What people build with it

  • Custom fleet dashboards for rental or delivery operations
  • Insurance verification tools that check live tracking status
  • Turo or peer-to-peer rental marketplace features -- scheduling, guest access, automated handoffs
  • Custom alerting routed into a company's own notification system instead of the MooveTrax app

Full endpoint-level documentation -- the authorization flow, token refresh, request and response formats -- is at moovetrax.com/documentation. For the quick version of how to get started and what's available, see the free API overview.

To request access, email support@moovetrax.com with your desired redirect URL and webhook URL.
