Your Car Already Has Lock/Unlock. Share It With Guests, Verified.
This is the feature most hosts miss: if your car has a factory-connected app -- Tesla, or another manufacturer's built-in telematics -- it already has the remote lock/unlock a hardware tracker would give you. Link it once at moovetrax.com/oem and MooveTrax turns that existing capability into a renter-facing, ID-verifiable, time-limited access link. No device, no installer.
The part most hosts overlook
Hosts default to assuming they need to buy and install a hardware tracker to give renters secure, app-free access. If your car is already factory-connected, you don't. The manufacturer's own telematics already does the lock/unlock -- MooveTrax's job on the OEM tier is to wrap that in a secure, trip-scoped link for your renter, with the same audit trail and access controls as the rest of the platform.
How it works
- Link your car. Go to moovetrax.com/oem and connect your manufacturer account. Software only -- nothing to install.
- Set verification requirements. Require renters to upload an ID or complete other checks before their first unlock request is granted.
- Share the trip link. MooveTrax generates a secure, time-limited link scoped to the booking window -- no app download for the renter.
- Access expires automatically. When the trip ends, renter control reverts to you without any manual step.
Renters can be verified before they ever touch the car
This is the part that gets missed most: granting access doesn't have to mean granting it blind. Owners can require verification steps -- like uploading an ID -- before a renter's unlock request goes through. Unlocking and starting simply won't work until those requirements are met. It's the same control available across MooveTrax's lineup, running here on a car that never needed hardware in the first place.
What the OEM tier includes -- and what it doesn't
| Feature | OEM tier |
|---|---|
| Device cost | $0 |
| Monthly | $10/month |
| Tracking interval | 30 minutes |
| Remote lock/unlock | Yes |
| Renter lock/unlock link | Yes |
| ID verification gate | Yes |
| ABI / Tint insurance compliant | Yes |
| Kill switch | Not offered |
| Toll tracking | Not offered |
| Maintenance / P&L tracking | Not offered |
| Hood/door-open detection, auto-lock, honk/flash | Not offered |
If you need a kill switch, toll tracking, or faster-than-30-minute updates, the OEM tier isn't the right fit -- MT3V covers all of that for $165 + $15/month. The OEM tier's whole point is giving an already-connected car secure guest access at $0 hardware cost, not replacing a full hardware install.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install any hardware for this?
No. If your car already has a factory-connected app -- Tesla, or another manufacturer's built-in telematics -- linking it at moovetrax.com/oem is entirely software. There's no device to install and no professional installer to schedule.
Can renters actually lock and unlock the car themselves?
Yes. Once your car is linked on the OEM tier, renters get a secure, time-limited link for the duration of their trip. They can lock and unlock the car from their phone -- no app download required.
Does MooveTrax verify the renter's identity before granting access?
Owners can require verification steps -- such as uploading an ID or completing other checks -- before a renter's unlock request is granted. Unlocking and starting won't work until those requirements are met. This is a platform-wide control, available on the OEM tier along with the rest of MooveTrax's lineup.
What's the catch with the OEM tier?
It's $0 device cost and $10/month, but it rides on your car's own manufacturer telematics rather than dedicated hardware, so it's slower (30-minute tracking interval vs. 30 seconds on MT3V) and doesn't include a kill switch, toll tracking, or several of the alerts the hardware tiers have. For a car that's already factory-connected and just needs secure guest access, that trade-off is usually worth it.
Is the OEM tier accepted by ABI/INSHUR and Tint insurance?
Yes. The OEM tier is accepted by both ABI's Period X (now part of INSHUR) and Tint's off-trip insurance, the same as every other MooveTrax tier.
